Armonico Consort

Friday 26 June, 7.30pm

Purcell: Dido and Aeneas, 1689; Pergolesi: Stabat Mater, 1736

Making a welcome return to Thaxted after their 2018 Festival success, the critically-acclaimed UK choir and instrumental ensemble of Armonico Consort bring the freshness and directness of their approach to two well-known vocal works of the Baroque era. Dido’s plaintive Lament forms the climax to Purcell’s work, while Pergolesi movingly conveys the sorrow of Mary, mother of Jesus, at the foot of his cross.
