We are delighted to welcome back to Thaxted two young artists who have appeared with us before. Violist Edgar Francis partnered violinist Charlotte Saluste-Bridoux and cellist Eliza Millett at our autumn 2022 recital, and Jâms Coleman accompanied celllist Laura van der Heijden in our 2021 summer season.

Edgar Francis is a dynamic and versatile musician, with a passion for performing that involves him in all aspects of the viola. He has performed in leading venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, Kolner Philarmonie and The Royal Festival Hall. As 1st Prize Winner at the 2021 Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competition, his debut album will be released on Champs Hill records.

Jâms Coleman regularly performs at the major festivals and venues in the UK and in Europe. Highlights from his 2022-23 season include recitals at the BBC Proms, Champs Hill, Cheltenham Festival, King’s Place, Machynlleth Festival, North Norfolk Music Festival, Ortús Chamber Music Festival, Penarth Chamber Music Festival, Petworth Festival, Prussia Cove Open Chamber Music, and The Royal Concertgebouw (Amsterdam).

This recital forms part of our Autumn Festival 2023, with proceeds from the weekend going to towards our Developing Artists Programme, which is supported by Essex County Council’s Art and Culture Fund.

The recital will last approximately one hour, and will be followed by a glass of wine included in the ticket price. Doors will open at 2.00pm.
