Saturday 24 June, 7.00pm
With their home and roots in rural Suffolk, folk duo Honey and the Bear have achieved enormous popularity in recent years, with appearances at the UK’s leading folk and music festivals during 2022. They have now recorded two acclaimed albums. Multi-instrumentalists, singers and songwriters, Jon and Lucy Hart have been writing and performing together since 2014. Their work combines delicately interwoven vocal harmonies with emotive and evocative song-writing.
Conjuring stories in song, they tell tales of Suffolk folklore, courageous people they admire, their passion for nature, and the odd heartbreak or two. They are joined by fellow talented musicians on percussion, cello and wind for an evening which promises a diverse range of sounds and textures, and rhythms that flow from the fast and furious to gentle ballads.
Enjoy our licensed bar and Rotisseroll food truck at John Webb’s windmill, close to the Church, with entertainment from local musicians, from 4.00-7.00pm. Food can be ordered in advance, nearer the time, at www.rotisseroll.com
We also have a Festival Extra Folk Workshop at 4.00pm in the church (see previous entry), as well as Morris and country dancing outside after the concert as part of the Church’s patronal festival celebrations. Expect the famous Abbots Bromley Horn Dance at approximately 10.15. Come for the afternoon and evening and enjoy the folk tradition which Thaxted is so well-known for!
Please note the earlier start time of 7pm for this event.
