Holst specialist Christopher Cope will lead us through an exploration of Holst’s extensive output, revealing much more than just The Planets.

Gustav Holst is best known for The Planets suite, of which there are over 80 recordings, and which has been in the Classic FM Hall of Fame top ten since 2021. The work dominates programming during this 150th anniversary year. But there is much more to Holst than just The Planets, and Christopher Cope will lead us through an exploration of Holst’s more than 300 other works, across a range of genres.

Christopher Cope is Chairman of the Management Committee of the Holst Society, which he launched in May 2017 and which exists to bring Holst’s work to a wide audience. Like Holst, he is himself a trombonist, conductor and organist.

Venue: United Reformed Church, Bolford Street, Thaxted CM6 2PY
Tickets: free, but please book in advance. Unreserved seating.

“…this was a wonderfully enjoyable and engaging performance that really punched above its weight. The audience in Thaxted clearly loved it and were fully engaged, whilst this experienced reviewer was carried away as well.”
