Clare McCaldin, mezzo soprano
Paul Sheehan, bass-baritone
Stephen Dickinson, piano
Clare McCaldin and Paul Sheehan have a unique chemistry which brings the most familiar songs alive with their irrepressible energy. With pianist Stephen Dickinson they have delighted recent Thaxted audiences with their programmes of Stephen Sondheim and Cole Porter songs. They return with a rich selection of works from composers from the golden age of mid-twentieth-century popular song, when Noël Coward was popular in the US and a part of this creative circle. Expect numbers such as: Mad about the Boy, Puttin’ on the Ritz, I Got Rhythm, Speak Low, If Love were All.
‘Clare McCaldin shows how she is able to shape and control her voice to draw so much from each song, following the subtle nuances of each text to deliver the most remarkable performances.’ The Classical Reviewer
