Thomas Trotter is one of Britain’s most widely admired musicians, and received the Queen’s Medal for Music on St Cecilia’s Day 2020. In 2023 he celebrated 40 years as Birmingham City Organist. He performs with the world’s leading orchestras, as well as being a much sought-after soloist and recording artist. He has toured on four continents and appears at many International Festivals such as Bath, Salzburg, Edinburgh and the BBC Proms.
Thaxted Church’s Lincoln Organ is a rare example of an early Georgian organ which has remained largely unaltered since its construction in 1821. Since its restoration in 2014, the Lincoln Organ Recital has become an annual highlight of Thaxted Festival. Thomas will introduce each item in his programme to explain his choices of works and their relation to this instrument and its setting.
‘Trotter turns out performances that are top of the pile when it comes to compelling performances…’ The Gramophone Magazine

The concert will be followed by Thomas Trotter in conversation with Festival Artistic Director Christopher Weston.
