Robin Walker (Organ)

Saturday 27 June, 12 noon

Melody for a new age: Samuel Wesley and the birth of the English Romantic organ

Robin Walker is Director of Music at Corpus Christi College Cambridge, and as well as travelling extensively to give organ recitals, he teaches on the Royal College of Organists’ Academy Programme. Robin has established a close understanding of Thaxted Church’s Lincoln Organ since its recent restoration, and his programme has been designed to highlight its unique qualities. It will include works from the early part of the 19th century, when the organ was constructed, through to around 1875, taking in works by Wesley and his English contemporaries, as well as the Continental influence of Mendelssohn. This concert is sponsored by a friend of Thaxted Festival.

Tickets: £12 unnumbered
