Programme

Fergus Hall: Three Hours After High Water (composed 2025)
Beethoven: String Quartet Op 18 No 1 in F major
Robert Schumann: String Quartet No 3 in A major

Thaxted Festival is always proud to present the best of rising musical talent. Formed at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and supported by the Young Classical Artists Trust, the Fibonacci Quartet are one of Europe’s leading young string quartets, who have already won numerous awards for their playing.

Their programme features a new composition by fellow YCAT artist Fergus Hall, before Beethoven’s early String Quartet No 1 in F major (1801). Robert Schumann’s lyrical development of the string quartet followed from his detailed study of Beethoven’s works, with his No 3 being the last he wrote in this form (1842).

This concert is generously supported by Dr Simon and Chris Jackson.

After this concert at approximately 9.30pm there will be Morris and country dancing outside as part of the Church’s Patronal Festival celebrations, with the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance at approximately 10.15pm.
