Festival gains major funding award

No, it’s not a futuristic AI model, but a view of how new equipment for our lighting rig above our staging should look from this summer’s season.

Thaxted Festival has been awarded major funding by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, administered by Uttlesford District Council, for completely new equipment to support new lighting and curtaining for our staging in Thaxted Parish Church. This will hugely enhance the experience for our audiences and artists, and will also have major advantages for our technical teams in the set-up and operation of events. It will bring our technical operation up to the latest standards, as well as having environmental benefits from a transition to efficient modern LED lighting.

We look forward to launching our new presentation from the beginning of our season on Friday 20 June. We are grateful to UDC for their consideration of our detailed proposals, and for the government-funded award.

This award of £9,000 will provide approximately two-thirds of the funding needed to complete the purchase of the new lighting equipment and the associated rigging, as illustrated. Other funding bids are underway to try to make up the current shortfall, but we would welcome any donations from our supporters to bring us up to the target we need. Please visit our donations page to help. Thank you for your support.
