Each summer, Thaxted Festival brings world-class music to our beautiful corner of Essex, offering performances that range from classical masterworks to folk, jazz and choral music. Behind the scenes, delivering a four-weekend festival of this scale requires careful planning, dedicated volunteers – and, importantly, a sustainable mix of funding sources.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are able not only to stage outstanding concerts but also to run education and community projects that bring music to young people and schools throughout the area.
To give you a sense of how the Festival is supported, we’ve included a simple visual summary of our funding sources for 2025 (see below). Underneath is a short guide to how each stream contributes, and how you can help us continue to thrive.
Our Thaxted Music Lovers (TML) community plays a vital role in sustaining the Festival year after year. Members enjoy priority booking, special updates and the knowledge that they are directly helping our musical and educational work.

Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways to increase your support. If you’re a UK taxpayer, the Festival can reclaim an additional 25% on your donations at no extra cost to you.
If you need a Gift Aid form, just email music@thaxtedfestival.co.uk – it only takes a moment to complete.
The single biggest contribution to our income comes from audiences simply enjoying the Festival. When you buy a ticket, you’re directly helping to support our artists, venues and education projects.
So, the message here is simple: come along, bring friends, and enjoy wonderful music!
We are actively seeking new corporate partners for 2026 and beyond. Sponsorship packages are available at several levels, allowing businesses to:

Our beautifully produced Festival brochure reaches audiences across Essex and beyond, and is directly mailed to our patrons. Advertising is an excellent way for local businesses to gain visibility while supporting live music.

A number of generous individuals sponsor concerts each year, helping to cover artist fees and production costs. This support makes a real, tangible difference to the quality and breadth of music we are able to programme.

Memorial Donations and Legacies
Over the years, Thaxted Festival has been honoured to receive legacies and memorial gifts from supporters and music lovers. These contributions often have a profound impact, allowing us to dedicate concerts in celebration of cherished individuals.

When you book tickets online, you’ll see an option to add a donation. Every contribution – large or small – helps us to continue offering beautiful music and meaningful outreach.

Grant funding supports both our artistic programme and our education work. If you know of charitable trusts, foundations or grant opportunities that might align with our mission, we’d love to hear from you. We have a dedicated volunteer who works closely with us to develop applications and broaden the Festival’s reach.
