Our renowned annual festival of music and performance in Thaxted Church relies on a wide range of volunteer activity both during the festival season and throughout the year. In this exceptional year of 2021 we have particular need for volunteers to join our stewarding and front-of-house teams.
We will have reduced audience numbers, and distanced seating, and we need active stewarding so that our audiences receive their usual warm and friendly greeting, and are calmly and smoothly directed towards their seats in our new layout.
This active stewarding will extend to the intervals, when refreshments and our renowned home-made cakes will be served, to safely guiding people out of the church and its surroundings after each concert, as well as helping to complete necessary safety procedures before and after each performance, and being on duty during performances.
If you can spare some time on evenings during our long weekends 24-27 June, and 1-4 July this year, we would love to hear from you. Briefings for all volunteer stewards will be held immediately before our season begins. All evening performances begin at 7.30pm (plus our organ recital on 26 June at 12.00 noon), and stewards need to be present from 6.45pm for briefing and preparation for doors opening at 7.00pm.
There is also wide scope for volunteering across our whole operation, which extends throughout the year. If you have experience you can offer Thaxted Festival in areas such as office administration, marketing and promotion, fundraising, box office, media relations or other skills, we would welcome hearing from you.
