Event Details

The Thaxted Festival 2027 launches in sensational style as members of the world-renowned BBC Singers take centre stage alongside celebrated organist and composer Iain Farrington who will be joined by our own Artistic Director, Christopher Weston.

Anchoring the programme is Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes, a set of charming, intimate, and utterly delightful songs for four voices and piano duet that masterfully blend the classic Viennese waltz style with the warmth of traditional Hausmusik. Seamlessly weaving German Romanticism with English song, folk with jazz, the afternoon serves as an exclusive 'taster' of the upcoming 2027 season. Individual songs are interspersed with favourite piano works, delivered by Iain and Chris with their inimitable flair.

This launch event offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the world-class talent of The BBC Singers ahead of their live festival recording of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Mass in G minor next summer.
