Our Summer 2023 season was a huge success, with 20 events over four weeks in June-July. Performances by world-leading artists brought orchestral, chamber, soloists and choral music, together with folk and jazz, to our beautiful surroundings. You can get a taste of our atmosphere through the reviews here; the listing of our events is still available here.
Still to come is our Autumn Festival over the weekend of 18-19 November 2023, featuring exciting young artists in support of our Developing Artists Programme. Click through to see details of our viola/piano recital, our historic feature film Time Gentlemen, Please!, and our Lincoln Organ recital. General booking for these events opens on Monday 18 September.
Taking place in Thaxted’s magnificently spacious Parish Church, Thaxted Festival offers a relaxed atmosphere, the highest standards of performance from renowned professional artists, the superb natural acoustics of Thaxted Church, and a warm welcome in beautiful historic surroundings. Whether you are attending a single performance, making a weekend of it or packing in the entire season, we guarantee you a timeless musical experience!
With its origins in Gustav Holst’s 1916-18 Whitsuntide Festivals in Thaxted Church, Thaxted Festival attracts the very best of British and international musicians, in genres ranging from orchestral, chamber and vocal music to jazz, folk, big-band and swing, from early music to contemporary styles. Events for younger audiences, and educational projects with schools, have formed an important part of our mission over many years.
