Programme

Bitter Orange

With performances from the Royal Albert Hall to the world’s leading jazz clubs, Emma Smith shows are the hottest ticket in town. She has collaborated with the likes of Michael Bublé, The Quincy Jones Orchestra, Jeff Goldblum, Courtney Pine and the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars. Along the way, she has built a formidable reputation as a powerful, expressive jazz singer with a wonderful voice.

January 2026 saw her performing at New York City’s Birdland Jazz Theater, and we are beyond excited to be welcoming her to Thaxted this summer. With her talented piano trio, Emma will be featuring songs from her album Bitter Orange. Expect her take on such favourite standards as Night and Day, You Go To My Head, and Makin’ Whoopee, along with her own compositions. Don’t miss an evening of the coolest sophisticated jazz singing and playing, from an artist we’ll be hearing a lot more of in the future.

'Emma Smith is a singer with a voice that is a breath of fresh air to the jazz world.' Jazz Views

'One of the most stylish and original interpreters of Songbook classics on the scene.' All About Jazz
