Programme

Encounters with Gershwin

Performing across classical and popular genres, violinist and vocalist Lizzie Ball has worked with musicians including Jeff Beck, Bryan Ferry and Nigel Kennedy, as well as with James Pearson and The Sixteen. She is now Creative Co-Director of Ronnie Scott’s new Classical series.

James Pearson is one of Britain’s top jazz pianists, who has delighted past Thaxted audiences appearing with his own trio and with Ronnie Scott’s big bands. His role as Artistic Director at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, where his trio are the house band, puts him at the centre of the current jazz world.

Together, James and Lizzie bring new life to a sophisticated programme of much-loved compositions by George Gershwin and his musical contemporaries.

This concert is sponsored by a friend of Thaxted Festival who wishes to remain anonymous.
