Programme

Scottish-Indian classical guitarist Samrat Majumder is a fast-rising star who was welcomed into the Young Classical Artists Trust in 2025. With multiple prizes and awards already to his name, Samrat has appeared at Wigmore Hall, Royal Holloway, in Jersey and across Europe. He is Classical Guitar Ambassador for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Appearing in our 1998 Festival season, British classical guitar titan Julian Bream CBE delighted our Thaxted audience with works by several major Spanish composers. In this programme, Samrat will celebrate Bream’s iconic 1985 recording of a musical journey through Spain via its guitar works. Granados, de Falla, Albéniz, Rodrigo, Sor and Tárrega are just some of the composers on Bream’s original recording, and Samrat’s programme will feature the riches of Spain’s guitar repertoire.

This recital is sponsored by Mrs Marijke Curtis, and is supported by Thaxted Music Lovers.

This recital will be followed by a reception for Thaxted Music Lovers at Gold, Silver and Bronze Plus levels, by invitation.

Tickets: £32*, £28, £24, £20, £12.
