A Journey Round the Isles

St Martin’s Voices is one of the UK’s most versatile professional vocal ensembles, performing events on the international stage as well as giving regular broadcasts and special services at London’s St Martin-in-the-Fields Church and beyond. Here they join forces with Thaxted Festival patron and Classic FM presenter Zeb Soanes in a programme of words and song taking us on a voyage round the British Isles.

Alongside songs by Purcell, Vaughan Williams, Tippett, Britten, Holst, MacMillan, McDowall, Park and others, readings are drawn from R L Stevenson, Pope, Clare, Auden, Blake, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Christina Rossetti, and more.

Zeb’s voice is known to millions through his regular Relaxing Evenings with Zeb Soanes on Classic FM, and previously as newsreader and deliverer of the Shipping Forecast on BBC Radio. This year sees him touring his one-man Alec Guinness show – Two Halves of Guiness – throughout the UK, to great critical success. We are so pleased to have his support as our Festival Patron. Do join us on this magical voyage round the Isles.
